Is it possible to configure the plugin so that they are only given the option to subscribe to the composite product, or will I have to create duplicates of the products i'm including within the composite product which have that subscription only role and use those instead?
Unfortunately, our plugin doesn't have the feature to set discounts based on a number of selected products.
Regarding subscription, you can try the free version first at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpc-composite-products/. There is no difference between this feature on free and premium versions, so please try it first to ensure it works as you expect.
