Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to setup a product listing that will have multiple sets of options.
For example, I'm setting up a product listing for "Gemology Microscope". The microscope will have a set of auxiliary lens options to choose from (3x, 4x, or 5x) and a set of eyepieces to choose from (10x, 15x, or 20x). Each option will need its own SKU and price (ie. 6 separate SKUs in this example).
The price of each individual selected option should be used to calculate the total price of the "Gemology Microscope" product. The SKUs of the selected options will also need to be passed on to the order details / purchase order.
How can I accomplish this? Do I need the bundles, composite or grouped product plugin?
At first I was trying to set this up as a variable product, but it looks like SKUs are limited at the variation level, and does not allow tracking SKUs of each component that make up a variation. For example, I would need to track SKU for Auxiliary Lens 3x and Eyepiece 10x, and not just one SKU for the variation of that combo.
Thanks for the reply. Good to know that there is the capability for a user to change quantity to "0" for a sub-product in the bundle.
However, this seems like a poor user experience as there is nothing obvious to indicate to the user that the sub-product is optional.
Do you have any live examples of customers using your plugin for this purpose?
Instead of requiring the user to select an optional sub-product then change the quantity to "0", it would be better if the user was not required to make a selection.
In this case, you should set the default quantity to zero for optional products so buyers will know they need to increase the amount for the product they want.

Hope that made sense. Thanks in advance!
Hi Jesse,
Please use our plugin https://wpclever.net/downloads/product-bundles/ to bundle these two variable products. Here is a demo page: https://demo.wpclever.net/woosb/product/smart-bundle-03/
You can still request a refund within seven days if you don't like it. So, don't hesitate to give it a try.
Best regards,
Dustin
Hello,
I've purchased the product bundles plugin and started setting up.
Is it possible to make a variable product optional as part of a smart product bundle?
See example here: https://app.screencast.com/y8jVzvhWwud1N
If not, what is a good work around for this?
Hi Jesse,
You can enable Custom Quantity for each bundled sub-product here:
Then, buyers can change the quantity to zero if they don't want this product:

Dustin

You can also use another plugin, https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-bought-together/, to provide optional products. Here is a demo page: https://demo.wpclever.net/woobt/product/bought-together-04/. It can work together with WPC Product Bundles.
Best regards,
Dustin
