Could you please give some timeline for ideas from this ticket? I need exactly the same.
I have variable products, lets say 200 products of 100 and 50 meters lenght in category 'Some good ropes' (total 400 SKU). If I want to make composite of all 100m ropes, then now I need to manually add all that variations one by one in a 'Product' source.
It would be really more reasonable to have 'Some good ropes' category as a source AND product attribute 'Lenght = 100 m' as a filter, so it will automatically output all that 200 SKU out of total 400 SKU.
Just to clarify about WPC Smart Product Collections:
I want to see multiple sourses with AND/OR connection between them (effectively - filter) inside the composite, because it is not convenient to make collections in other plugin just to put then in composite (paid plugin).
After reviewing the entire situation, we realized that integrating the combined product source into each component was too complex, and we will not implement it for our plugin. We sincerely apologize for this!
Using Smart Collections is a great solution and can be applied to many of our other plugins.
However, if you don't want that, you can request a refund since it doesn't work as expected. We'll issue it to you. We apologize for this shortcoming in our plugin!

it would be great if users had more flexibility with the component options "Source" and "Exclude".
for example:
right now its not even possible to exclude a subcategory, I have to add every single product.
i added a screenshot how it could look like. :-)

No need for refund, plugin works well as described.
It could be just more convenient, but if it is too complicated, then ok, I will try to use collections.
Please clarify if WPC Smart Product Collections can make collections of variations?
I have:
Product A - Variation 100, Variation 50
Product B - Variation 100, Variation 50
I want to make collection with this category AND Variation 100.
Will it make collections of 2 products: Product A - Variation 100, Product B - Variation 100?
Or collection will consist of ALL variations in this case?
