I've been using this plugin for probably 2 years. One issue has bugged me:
If a customer adds the main product to their cart and thèn decides it wants to add one of the Frequently Bought Together items, the main product gets added to the cart AGAIN.
There should be a setting in which these products get added seperately from the main product, not together with the main product.
Actually, we already have one option called Add Separately, but the situation is a bit special.
About the Add Separately option: When you enable "Add separately" option, all the discounts applied to Bought Together item will be removed. Thus, when customers select and press the Add to Cart button to buy them, they will be simply individual items bought together & no discount is applied. When this option is enabled, customers can freely remove any unwanted item from the cart, they can choose to buy any product from the list because they're treated as individual products.
The discount is only accepted when they are items bought together with the main product as part of the deal and cannot be removed individually. The discount will be applied only when customers add the deal from the single product page. If they can add more products from the suggested product section in cart (to be placed in an order with the main one that you previously added), they are called cross-sells, not Bought Together products
So if you have solely added the main product to the cart, it's considered a single item, then you decide to add more items to enjoy the Bought Together discount, the whole offer (including both the main and Bought Together items) will be added again to the cart.
The main product added alongside Bought Together is different from the main product added solely so they cannot be combined technically.
