You are doing an amazing job with your plugins..I have recently moved to your variation swatches plugin from a different one. But i am afraid ..is there any option to dynamically change the product Title and Short description according to the variations. I mean is that possible to have different title and short description for different variations..?
Changing the product title upon choosing a variation might be unnecessary since the swatches display the attributes and terms very clearly.
About showing the description:
- You can add the short description for variations from the Variations tab. After making all choices, the short description for each variation will be displayed:
- You can use the Tippy.js tooltip to display the short description of attributes under Products >> Attributes:
Thanks a lot Janilyn for the continuous support you are giving to us..
1. Basically, my intention to change them was from SEO angle...There are different keywords that we want to add into the Product Title. For example of a tableware online shop:
A certain Tableware product named Imperial Series has colors (ash, blue, green) and Sizes(24 pieces, 32 pieces, 60 Pieces)
What is the best practice in terms of SEO::
Parent Product Title: Imperial Series Ceramic Tableware
variant 2 Title: Imperial Blue Ceramic Bone china Tableware (32 pieces for 12 persons)
variant 3 Title: Imperial Green Porcelain Tableware (60 pieces for 16 persons)
etc....
All these variants have high search volume individually in the Google SERP
SEO requires to have these (colors/sizes/both) in the title as "each of them has higher search volumes individually". There may have other extra words that people are searching along with the Title and attribute name. The problem is that you can't add all the colors and sizes in the parent title because the parent titles length will be extended and it looks awkward.
There is a solution..you have to enlist each variation as different single product(based on only sizes/colors). But this is not efficient and have a chance of product duplicacy according to Google's Terms.
So, If there were a field in each of the variations to change the product title for that variation only,it would be amazing. Just a custom field to change each variations name is needed to bypass all the problems according to SEO.
By doing so, I guess you can do marketing your plugin as a "SEO friendly Variation Swatches" to the shop owners.
2. Now, the questions for the short description::
Google Always favour the Title and the excerpt (named as short description in woocommerce) in terms of ranking. I know you can add separate variable description from the tab but it is not considered as excerpt in googles eyes and it pops up after you have selected some attribute options. Also, its position is in the bottom which is also bad for ranking.
We, as a SEO prefer dynamic short description to have the opportunity to add some extra keyword or SEO advantage text for the individual variants and show them just right under the Title. This is the best practice.
Sorry for making it long..Hope you understand...Thanks again :)
About changing the product title, unfortunately, we do not have any plugin that can do it. I'll consult with our developers to see if this can be added to any of our plugins.
Since the WPC Variations Swatches is for dealing with the attributes, not the variations as other variation selector, so it's very difficult to do that with this plugin. It's showing variations while separating the different attributes. Other variation selectors often combine the attributes and showing all at once for each single variation.
About adding the attribute label to the variation name, we have a plugin called WPC Variations Radio Buttons which offers that option. It's always showing the short description under each variation.
There's a free version of this plugin on WP repository, you can give it a try.
Thanks a lot Janilyn..I have already tried the radio button plugin you recommended. The problem is if the product has 4 colors and 5 sizes..the total variations become 20..and it looks awkward to show a long list of choices in the first place. Buyers often get confused viewing these 20 buttons for 20 variations.
And the description below the name is written as "variation_description" not "Excerpt". I have checked it from the page source file. Google only prioritize the title and excerpt that i can assure you from my SEO knowledge and experience in the e-commerce field. you can say it is google's awkward algorithm..So variation description doesn't put any value according to SEO.
A lot of people is searching for this feature online but no one has ever given any solution for that. So it would be great if you add this option in your next update.
I have consulted with our developers about your requests. As expected, both of them are unfeasible with WPC Variation Swatches plugin.
Our developers suggested that you can try our WPC Show Single Variations plugin, first, to see if it can help you index more links and show variations as different products in the search results. If you are afraid of those variations being considered as duplicated contents by Google, you can test this plugin on your site for certainty.
It will display all variations of variable products as below in the shop/archive pages:
You can test if that brings about the results you want on SERP.
About showing the short description of variations as excerpt on search result, our developers said that can be done, but we will need to add custom codes to allow users to change the variation name into a custom one. You can include both the parent variable product title and the variation name in that custom name for variations.

I guess this could be a better solution of what people are searching.
I found a plugin that exactly match the criteria with the variant title
After searching for 15 days and consulting 3 developers(they tried but couldn't execute it) finally you have done it man.. It works like a charm.
just do one little thing>> the custom description is showing in double position(see screenshot). The variation description just only in the upper section is best for SEO. As google put much value what is first appeared in the page.
except this, It was exactly i was looking for..you just saved thousands of people searching for it online. I am gonna post a thread at github or reddit about this update. Hats off to wpclever for their brilliant trilliant support. I am gonna recommend wpclever to everyone.
I am very much thankful to you from the bottom of my heart.
I guess i figured out what is causing the problem.. I am using a page builder (elementor + crocoblock)..If i switch to woocommerce default single product template the plugin is working fine but the custom made template from elementor doesn't support it now.
The 3.0.1.2 version was working perfectly from my end.

Here is the screencast you shared with me.. the description appears in double position here also..check the screenshot
Double description appears >>screenshot
Please update our plugin to the newest version 3.1.0, we fixed it
Now you also can enable/disable this feature on the settings page https://app.screencast.com/IjOqvaKTT9oZ8
After updating, please remember to clear the website cache and browser cache before testing again.
Best regards,
Dustin
Dear Dustin,
It is not working now. Nothing changes upon clicking the variations
what i did>>
1. cleared all the cache from browser and website itself, from cloudflare also
2. Ensured the new replacement function was being "enabled".
3. Tried deleting and reinstalling the plugin
Brother, Can you plz check the update again from your end?
I guess i figured out what is causing the problem.. I am using a page builder (elementor + crocoblock)..If i switch to woocommerce default single product template the plugin is working fine but the custom made template from elementor doesn't support it now.
The 3.0.1.2 version was working perfectly from my end.
Please try settings these fields without '.summary >' https://app.screencast.com/2tMtkO7LuuSY7
If it still doesn't work, please create a dev/staging site with the same configurations as your live site then I can check and fix it for you.
Best regards,
Dustin
