Our client has a number of products that we're looking at building out as composites. The parent product is a base wiring harness, and then the components are options for that harness, of which a customer can select one. The client's data has a base price set in the parent composite, say $1000. Then the component options can either be a positive or negative number that modifies that price -- so for example, if the option is to add an accessory harness, it might be +$100, but if the option is to remove a component, it will be something like -$20. I've configured the composite to include the base price, with no discounts or anything set.
WooCommerce core appears to allow the entering of negative prices for the product on the backend, though they just display as $0.00 on the frontend. When adding one of the negative price products as the component, the component price just displays as "$0.00" and does not change the main price when selected.
