All grouped items stay as individual products, it's just that they are grouped for customers' convenience in purchasing a large amount of items in a collection. Customers can adjust to any quantity they like for each item.
The only way to give discounts on Grouped Products is to set up coupons/vouchers and give them to your customers to apply on the total.
